We wanted to properly introduce you to our new professional Children’s Librarian. Kathy comes to us from Benbrook Library where she worked as a volunteer coordinator for years and received her degree, advancing to a professional position there. We are so happy to have Ms. Kathy and we want everyone to know a little about her and provide her the warmest of welcomes! We asked Kathy to answer a few fun questions so you could get to know her a bit personally and professionally.

What’s the best place you’ve traveled to? The best place I’ve traveled to was Denver Colorado. Denver is a fantastic place to visit.

Have you ever met anyone famous? I met Red Skelton, the comedian in Myrtle Beach in his clown shop in 1979 while traveling with my parents and brother. I remember he was a very funny man and I watched his weekly TV shows with my family. I DID GET HIS AUTOGRAPH (WHICH I STILL HAVE) and we bought one of his figurine clowns.

What’s your favorite thing to do on the weekends? I enjoy visiting friends, relatives and walking in the city  parks.

Which historical figure would you most like to meet? Colin Powell. Mr. Powell passed away in October of 2021. He was a former United State Secretary of State.
